Multifunction Steering wheel will have controls for:

  • infotainment and navigation system,
  • instrument cluster board computer or virtual cockpit,
  • cruise control, active cruise control, driver assistants.

Steering wheel can also have:

  • shift paddles for automatic transmission,
  • Engine Start/Stop button,
  • Active Exhaust button,
  • Launch Control button,
  • Drive Select button,
  • steering wheel heating button.

Steering wheel controls can be traditional push-buttons and scroll-wheels as well as capacitive touch-sensitive sensors.

Steering wheel can also have heating element (as part of the comfort functionality of the vehicle), touch sensor (as safety mechanism for Lane Assist).

Steering wheel vibration (warning for Lane Assist and Side Assist) is most likely not embedded into the steering wheel itself. It's part of the electronic steering rack.
